Sprite Eaglets won the Barclays Eaglets Memorial tournament at Ruaraka, Nairobi, beating USIU-A 56-43 in the finals yesterday.
Their menfolk, Eagles, beat Postbank 71-63 in the other final to clinch the trophy.
Eagles, who fielded US-based forward Peter Kiganya, squeezed a narrow 29-28 half-time lead.
Richard Osano of Mennonites, who turned out for Sprite Eagles as a guest player, scored games-high 20 points while team-mate international Patrick Odhiambo hit 11. In the semi-final, Eagles dismissed Tigers of USIU-A 93-88 while Postbank knocked out Co-op Bank 72-50.
Kenya Commercial Bank Lionesses, led by international Nancy Onkoba, won the women’s title after beating Eaglets 52-49 in a closely contested final.
KCB Lioness beat Kenya Railways 52-44 in the semi-final while Sprite defeated USIU-A Flames 56-42.
The annual tournament is held in memory of five Barclays Eaglets players and their coach who perished in a road accident in 1999. It attracted 18 teams.
The newly elected Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) chairman Agina Wesonga presented the winners with trophies. Also present were the new KBF secretary-general Vitalis Gode and Barclays Bank Sports Club chairman Frank Ireri.
