PINT-SIZED forward Peter Kiganya grabbed a game-high 16 points and 18 rebounds as the Nairobi team humbled Dar es Salaam 68-57 to lift the East and Central Africa Inter-cities basketball championship title at Lugogo, Sunday.

Kiganya helped Nairobi pull away for an 8-point lead before fouling out in the fourth quarter. Ancette Wafula then took over scoring 16 points for Nairobi.

Nairobi eliminated Mwanza 81-42 while Dar es Salaam beat Kampala A 65-64 at the semi-final stage.

Nairobi women emulated their men’s team rallying behind Hilda Luvandwa and Angela Luchivya to claim the women’s title after a 62-57 defeat of Kampala City Council.

Luvandwa led Nairobi with 16 points as Luchivya notched 10 points, 3 assists and five boards.
